I've never understood how someone can simply decide to convert to another religion, such as when marrying someone of a different faith. One's religious beliefs are generally so ingrained and interwoven with one's sense of self that I don't know how someone could simply say "Out with the old, in with the new that will make my spouse and in-laws happy." Unless, of course, careful study, introspection, analysis, and reflection leads one to conclude that their original religion is less satisfactory than the one they opt to convert to.
