I've been programming and using computers since 1970, and using personal computers of many kinds since 1983. I still don't understand why software producers decide to remove features that users find valuable and rely on, replacing them either with something less capable or simply deleting them entirely. Whenever I buy a new Windows PC, I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to configure it to recover or emulate some of those missing capabilities that make my usage more efficient. It's infuriating.
