Interesting suggestion, Mick, thanks. I can see that working for an article, not so much for a book. I line up 15 or more beta readers for each of my books. Having phone calls for all of those review interactions would be prohibitively time-consuming.

Your technique would be a good way to check dialogue in a work of fiction to see how natural it feels and flows; as you say, the rhythm.
