Great points, Jason, thanks. While feedback from Medium (or other) readers on an article can be highly valuable, it's very different from the kind of input and polishing an actual editor can provide. Peer review (beta reading), various kinds of editing, and proofreading all improve our writing in different ways. It's best to employ all of them on a book project.
