Absolutely! However, many believers are driven to impose the tenets of their faith on others who believe differently. The lack of acceptance of, or conformance to, the American concept of separation of church and state by so many Christians is an excellent example.

As an atheist, it doesn't bother me a bit if you choose to believe -- whatever -- and I'm not going to try to persuade you differently. But believers MUST NOT attempt to impose their restrictive values on everyone else, as we see happening every day in every state.

As obvious examples, if your god tells you that abortion is wrong, then don't have one, but don't tell others that they can't either. If your religion teaches that homosexuality is an abomination, then don't marry a person of the same sex, but don't tell me that I cannot either. Those sorts of impositional actions are what makes it so difficult to respect some others who believe differently. They're the ones who don't get the live-and-let-live philosophy.
