A mechanical engineer, an electrical engineer, and a software engineer are riding in a car on a mountain road. The car hits some ice, slides a hundred feet down the hill, and hits a big rock. It won't start.

The mechanical engineer says, "I have my Swiss Army knife. I can probably fix the car and we'll drive it back up the hill."

The electrical engineer says, "I have a voltmeter and some alligator clips. I can check the electrical system, bypass the short, and we'll drive it back up the hill."

The software engineer says, "Before we do anything else, let's push it up the hill and see if it happens again."
